On installation day, we clear leaves and weeds, redefine or trench edges 2–4 inches, and protect desirable perennials and groundcovers. Where appropriate, we use pre-emergent herbicides instead of plastic fabric to maintain soil health, and we can topdress with compost to enrich tired beds.
Mulch is spread evenly at the correct depth, tapered away from stems and trunks, and watered in to settle. We rake for a smooth, uniform appearance, clean hard surfaces, and leave care tips: top up 1–2 inches annually, fluff compacted areas to improve airflow, and avoid piling mulch against plant bases.
